A fresh voice for Langford

It's important to have leaders who can represent and empathize with their community. This fall, it's time for new minds to lead a sustainable path for Langford.

To me, Langford is home.

I'm a born and raised resident who grew up alongside Langford’s transformation. I am passionate about building our community into a place where I will feel grateful to raise my future family.

My experiences have taught me that now is the time to bring new representation to the table. It's time for fresh minds to pivot Langford toward a more sustainable future.

Join me in shaping our community’s future by voting for Colby Harder on October 15th.

My Story

I was born and raised in Langford. My family owned "Triumph Trophies" on Goldstream Ave, a local business making awards for community events and sports.

I grew up in a mobile home park in Goldstream Meadows and later in military housing, where I went to École John Stubbs. I graduated from the "old" Belmont high school while my family rented near Glen Lake. In my teens, I worked part-time, balancing academics, athletics, and advocacy.

After graduation, I commuted to UVic and received my BSc in Geography. I then worked for the CRD, making safe routes for kids to walk and bike to school and doing environmental outreach. Today, I am a Master’s student at UVic, researching how to make transportation better for aging adults.

At home, personal challenges have taught me empathy and compassion. My mother escaped an unhealthy marriage with two young daughters. I grew up helping care for my sister, who lives with a disability after a car hit her as a child. More recently, I experienced taking on a caregiving role for my grandparents to allow them to age at home.

Overcoming adversity has shown me the value of a strong community and has inspired me to run in Langford. I look forward to bringing our community together to shape spaces for everyone.

Support from the community

"As a Dad to two elementary school children and a long-time homeowner in the changing South Langford neighbourhood, it's important to me that our local government council reflects the realities of the community today and into the future. While I've only known Colby for two years, in that time, she has consistently proven her dedication to our community. While past candidates haven't always inspired me, this year I am going to vote for Colby Harder. I believe she will bring a fresh and informed perspective which aligns with the values my family and I want to see in decision-making at the local level. Join me, and vote for Colby!"

- Mike Turner, South Langford resident

"I’ve lived in Langford my entire life, with my family running a local farm in the Happy Valley area for over 100 years. While I’ve seen many good changes come to Langford, parenthood has shown me a different side of our city. I want to see neighbourhoods being planned in a thoughtful way so that my family will have better access to parks, with safe trails to walk and bike on with our kids. As someone who has known Colby for over seven years, I know she shares these values and truly cares about our community. I am delighted to vote for her this fall and help bring a mix of perspectives to our city council."

- Leah McCormick, Lifelong Langford Resident, Mom, and Colby's friend

"As local business owners and longtime residents of the Westshore, we believe Colby Harder is the young energy we need for Langford's City Council. Public parks, recreation facilities, and safer streets are all important parts of community improvement plans. We respect Colby as someone who understands what our community needs and support her as someone who will protect the natural West Coast lifestyle that makes us and our city unique. We can't wait to see Colby be a part of leading Langford to support accessible outdoor activities and family values in our community. We fully support Colby Harder in her candidacy for Langford Council!"

- Justine Ivanisevic & Steven Munro, Owners and Operators of Influence Boardshop, and Langford Residents
