Using provincial grants, we are building a new two-storey childcare and arts centre. This mass-timber facility will provide childcare for 49 children plus space for pottery, dance, and community programming.

Becoming more than just a city for sports

When previous plans to build a boxing facility next to Sarah Beckett Memorial Park didn’t work out, Langford was able to seize an opportunity to use provincial grant funding to build a two-storey building, combining a childcare centre with a new community arts centre for all. 

I've heard from many Langford residents who feel that our community should continue to invest in spaces that meet diverse recreational needs and abilities. Once completed, the modern mass-timber building will provide spaces for 49 children, along with pottery and dance studios, art and music rooms, and a larger space for community programming and cultural events.

What this means for you

This project was funded through provincial grants and is already under way to build the new centre at the intersection of Jenkins x Glen Lake Road. The City anticipates it will open in 2027 to welcome folks from all walks of life into a beautiful new community space. Once completed, programming at the existing Carlow Road facility - which was once the location of Langford City Hall - will re-locate to this new space, marking the end of an era in their service to Langford.
